Federal nonprofit reporting status

As an organization recognized under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, the Foundation is subject to the annual IRS Form 990-series reporting requirement for tax-exempt organizations and files the return appropriate to its size each year.

Our IRS determination letter and filed returns are available to the public on request. Write to diane@turninglossintolight.com and we will send them to you.

How charitable funds are used

Charitable funds support mission-related programs and their operation, including:

• Cuddle Cot purchases and placements with eligible care facilities
• Care Packages for Grieving Mothers (Mom Care Packages)
• Baby Remembrance Memory Boxes
• The Sleeping Bags for Angels volunteer program
• Free grief resources and educational guides
• Moderated peer-support communities
• Program operations such as supplies, shipping, and administration

Where the Foundation receives a share of proceeds from mission-related books or items, that share supports these charitable programs. The Foundation does not display third-party advertising or affiliate links on this website.

Our commitment to responsible stewardship

Gifts designated for a specific program are applied to that program as the donor directed. Financial records are maintained by the Foundation’s treasurer and reviewed by the board of directors.

We publish only figures we can substantiate. Where we have not yet published an amount, it is because the number has not been finalized and reviewed — not because it is unavailable to donors who ask.
